Basketball Recap: Meadowbrook Takes a Loss

Meadowbrook played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 74-40 defeat at the hands of the Maysville Panthers. The Colts haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Despite the loss, Meadowbrook saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Michael Ray went 6 of 12 en route to 17 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Lappert, who posted four points.

It was another big night for Jordyn Watson, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 17 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven assists for Maysville. What's more, Watson also racked up six steals, the most he's had since back in January. Another player making a difference was Gator Nichols, who had 21 points and five boards.

Meadowbrook now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Maysville, their win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1.

Meadowbrook didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 75-24 defeat against Tri-Valley on the 17th. As for Maysville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, an 81-48 victory against Crooksville on the 17th.
