Baseball Game Preview: Gresham Gophers vs. Nelson

For the second straight game, Gresham will face off against Nelson. The Gophers will take on Nelson at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Gresham came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Nelson, falling 9-1. The Gophers haven't had much luck with Nelson recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

For Nelson's part, Brock Neeley tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave Neeley a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Brady Barton was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Cannon Caswell also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Gresham's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Nelson, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-7.
