Softball Game Preview: Sutter Huskies vs. Rio Linda Knights

The Sutter Huskies will head out on the road to face off against the Rio Linda Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Sutter is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Having struggled with nine losses in a row, Sutter turned things around against River Valley on Friday. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Falcons.

The team relied heavily on Gabriella Jones, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Liliana Speakman also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Sutter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 5-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Rio Linda played against El Camino on Thursday and won via forfeit.

Rio Linda has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Sutter, their record is now 9-14.

Sutter couldn't quite get it done against Rio Linda in their previous matchup back in April as they fell 6-3. Can the Huskies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
