Volleyball Preview: Rocklin Thunder vs. Granite Bay Grizzlies

Rocklin and Granite Bay are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but not for long. The Rocklin Thunder will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Granite Bay Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Rocklin's favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home while Granite Bay has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Last Wednesday, everything went Rocklin's way against Oak Ridge as Rocklin made off with a 3-0 win.

Rocklin's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Mackenzie Murphy, who had nine digs and two aces, and Devon Schweitzer, who had eight digs and three aces. That's the most aces Schweitzer has posted in she last 11 matches.

Meanwhile, Granite Bay entered their contest against Folsom on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Granite Bay lost 3-0 to Folsom. The game marked the first time this year in which the Grizzlies were not able to get on the board.

While Granite Bay was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Folsom's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-16, 25-18.

Rocklin's victory bumped their record up to 21-3. As for Granite Bay, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-6.
