Basketball Game Preview: Talawanda Brave vs. Harrison Wildcats

Talawanda and Harrison are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Talawanda Brave are taking a road trip to take on the Harrison Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Talawanda has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight losses, while Harrison will come in with nine straight wins.

Last Tuesday, Talawanda didn't have quite enough to beat Mariemont and fell 41-38. While losing is never fun, the Brave can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 547th, while the Warriors are ranked 159th).

Meanwhile, Harrison strolled past Monroe with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 44-25.

Talawanda better keep an eye on Alli Robertson. She was instrumental in Harrison's win, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. The contest was Robertson's 26th in a row with at least ten points. Shelby Piepmeier was another key player, putting up 11 points and three steals.

Harrison's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-0. As for Talawanda, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Talawanda was dealt a bruising 52-16 loss at the hands of Harrison in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Robertson, who posted 28 points. Now that Talawanda knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time?
