Baseball Recap: Hilliard Davidson Comes Up Short

Hilliard Davidson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Upper Arlington Golden Bears. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 19, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Andrew Sherman was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Hilliard Davidson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reynaldo Pelaez, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Luke Emery was another, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Hilliard Davidson's record now sits at 6-8. As for Upper Arlington, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.

While Hilliard Davidson had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
