Basketball Recap: Western Boone Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Ally Lewis and Olivia Reagan

Western Boone was the 42-28 winner over Fountain Central when they last played one another back in January of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Western Boone Stars fell 49-39 to the Fountain Central Mustangs on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Stars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 294th, while the Mustangs are ranked 121st).

Western Boone's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Olivia Reagan, who posted ten points and eight rebounds, and Ally Lewis, who earned 12 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Lewis is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Amaya Westerfeld also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Fountain Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Henley Good, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 14 points along with five boards and five steals. That's the most steals Good has posted since back in December of 2023. Brailey Hoagland was another key player, going 5 for 10 en route to 13 points and six rebounds.

Western Boone's defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Fountain Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.

Western Boone didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 47-45 victory against Clinton Prairie on the 11th. Fountain Central has also already played their next contest, a 60-30 win against Covington on the 13th.
