Baseball Recap: Mid Valley Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

With a playoff win on the line, Mid Valley rose to the challenge on Friday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Scranton Prep Cavaliers. The win was familiar territory for the Spartans, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Lorenzo Hernandez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Hernandez wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Doug Pua, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI Pua has posted since back in April.

Mid Valley pushed their record up to 18-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Scranton Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 8-13.

As of now, neither Mid Valley nor the Cavaliers have any future games scheduled.
