Basketball Game Preview: Calvert Cavaliers vs. McDonough Rams

The Calvert Cavaliers will head out on the road to square off against the McDonough Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Calvert lost 48-25 to Northern on Wednesday. The contest marked the Cavaliers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Meanwhile, McDonough fought the good fight in their overtime game against Huntingtown on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 53-45 to the Hurricanes. The Rams haven't had much luck with the Hurricanes recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Calvert will have to contain Maleesah Williams as she made an impact in McDonough's last game. She dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 boards. The dominant performance gave Williams a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Lexi Garrison, who posted 13 points.

McDonough now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Calvert, they now have a losing record at 2-3.

Calvert came up short against McDonough when the teams last played back in February, falling 46-37. Can Calvert avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
