Softball Game Preview: Norwood Indians vs. Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy Eagles

Norwood is 0-10 against Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy since April of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Indians will venture away from home to square off against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

On Tuesday, Norwood made easy work of Deer Park and carried off a 14-4 victory.

Meanwhile, while Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Clark Montessori. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 20-0 margin over the Cougars. That 20 run margin sets a new team best for the Eagles this season.

Kylene Werner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, Georgia Myers was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ella Helms, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Norwood has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-5.

Norwood suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
