Basketball Recap: Northside Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Northside entered their match against Starr's Mill on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Northside Patriots lost 67-41 to the Starr's Mill Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 227th, while the Panthers are ranked 113th).

Starr's Mill's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aftyn Heiden, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. Those ten rebounds gave Heiden a new career-high. Lindsey Kopacek was another key player, going 5 for 11 en route to 13 points along with eight boards and four blocks.

Northside's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-5. As for Starr's Mill, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Northside will challenge Griffin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Griffin has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Starr's Mill, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Starr's Mill Panthers face off against the Whitewater Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
