Basketball Game Preview: Covington Lions vs. Abramson Commodores

The Covington Lions will venture away from home to square off against the Abramson Commodores at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Covington earned a 41-29 win over Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Swamp Owls are ranked 218th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

BROOKLYN BAHAM and JONARIA BULLARD were among the main playmakers for Covington as the former posted 11 points and five steals and the latter had ten points along with seven boards and five steals. BULLARD continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. LENIESHA BURRIS was another key player, putting up five points.

Meanwhile, Abramson won against Bogalusa back in December of 2025 with 49 points and they decided to stick to that point total again back in December of 2025. The Commodores took their game with ease, bagging a 49-15 victory over Thomas Jefferson. The Commodores have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 25 points or more this season.

Abramson's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.0 points on average over those games. As for Covington, their record now sits at 13-5.
