West Wilkes is a perfect 10-0 against Surry Central since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The West Wilkes Blackhawks will head out to face off against the Surry Central Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m.

West Wilkes fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Ashe County on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 9-8. The Blackhawks' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, everything went Surry Central's way against South Stokes on Thursday as Surry Central made off with a 13-2 win. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Golden Eagles this season.

McKindsey Lloyd made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those RBI marked the first that she brought in this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Morgan Brooks, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ragan Hall, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Surry Central lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

West Wilkes' defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Surry Central, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

West Wilkes took their win against Surry Central in their previous matchup last Tuesday by a conclusive 15-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Wilkes since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
