Preview: Davenport Wolves vs. Fredericksburg Billies
The Davenport Wolves will take on the Fredericksburg Billies at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Davenport is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
Davenport can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They blew past Marble Falls 28-7. Given Davenport's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while Marble Falls is ranked 852nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Triston Hamlin, who threw for 212 yards and three touchdowns. Hamlin hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for four straight games. Barrett Fallon was in the mix as well, providing Davenport with two touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Marble Falls to a paltry five yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Davenport's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out five times before it was all said and done. Marble Falls' QB won't forget Zahir Livingston anytime soon given Livingston sacked him twice.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 42 points the game before, Fredericksburg were a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They were beaten by Boerne 47-7. Fredericksburg has struggled against Boerne recently, as their matchup on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Davenport has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Fredericksburg, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's match: Davenport has been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 283.8 passing yards per game.
