Westlake Academy needed a changed in momentum after dropping three straight games and they got it from Maya Sonday. The Westlake Academy Blacksmiths simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Harvest Christian Academy Saints 49-17 thanks in part to Sonday, who went 14 for 27 en route to 31 points plus eight steals and five rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Westlake Academy's points.
Westlake Academy's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3.
Westlake Academy has already played their next game, a 31-19 victory against Nazarene Christian Academy on the 16th. As for Harvest Christian Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Joshua Christian at 6:30 p.m. on December 9th.
