Softball Recap: Walnut Triumphs

Walnut barely beat New Site the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildcats' pitcher stepped up to hand the Royals a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Walnut got a great performance from Aubree Carter as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Carter has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Allie Jackson, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Brooklyn Wilburn also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Walnut's record now sits at 7-11. As for New Site, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11-1 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Walnut will head out to square off against Baldwyn at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for New Site, they will venture away from home to challenge Biggersville at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
