Volleyball Recap: Pine's Winning Streak Snapped at Nine Games

It was a good run, but Pine unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 3-1 to the Centennial Eagles. If the Knights were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Eagles when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Pine was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Centennial work for it, especially in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-20, 20-25, 25-17.

Vitoria Claret paced Pine's offense, picking up 19 kills. Claret got some help from Talis Brinn and her 27 assists. Karolina Swan controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Leading Centennial to victory were Claritza Lopez and Paige Hager. Lopez had 17 digs, while Hager had six digs. Lopez has been hot, having posted 11 or more digs the last seven times she's played.

Pine's loss dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Centennial, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season.

Pine has already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against John Carroll Catholic on the 16th. As for Centennial, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Dwyer on the 16th.
