Baseball Game Preview: Clay Blue Devils vs. Arnold Marlins

The Clay Blue Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Arnold Marlins at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Clay will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Clay is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over Escambia.

Levi Chmura was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Chmura was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cole Carnell, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Peyton McCrae, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Arnold got the win against Choctawhatchee on Thursday by a conclusive 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Marlins, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Austin Hendrix was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Mason Laymon was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Arnold is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games. As for Clay, they pushed their record up to 22-9 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.
