Volleyball Recap: Mount Union Has No Trouble Against Fannett Metal

Mount Union's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They blew past Fannett Metal 3-0. For the Trojans, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 victory Fannett Metal walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2021.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Mount Union took every set by at least 11 points. The final score came out to 25-14, 25-8, 25-9.

Lily Hicks went supernova, getting 15 assists and six aces. She is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 15 or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Eichelberger, who had six aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Mount Union was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 22 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in August.

Mount Union's record now sits at 6-8. As for Fannett Metal, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10.

Coming up, Mount Union is taking a road trip to take on Tussey Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans are facing the Titans at the right time seeing as the Titans are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Fannett Metal, they will be playing at home against Everett at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something Fannett Metal surely won't give up without a fight.
