Volleyball Recap: Pinole Valley Extends Road Winning Streak to Nine

Pinole Valley waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Kennedy Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Spartans have posted since March 1st.

Pinole Valley wouldn't go down easily and took Kennedy into a fifth set where they got it done with a seven-point win. The final score came out to 25-21, 26-24, 21-25, 18-25, 15-8.

Kennedy's loss came despite strong showings from Elmer Barrios and Jayson Scarbrough. Barrios had three blocks and two aces, while Scarbrough had 13 kills and five blocks. Scarbrough has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 14 times he's played.

Pinole Valley pushed their record up to 20-3 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road. As for Kennedy, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-2.

After both having extra time off, Pinole Valley and Swett will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Kennedy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Vallejo on the 16th.
