Baseball Recap: Smithfield Takes a Loss

Smithfield was the 7-4 winner over La Salle Academy when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Sentinels lost 12-2 to the Rams on Thursday. The Sentinels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Smithfield saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Speakman, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. Luke Dwyer also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Smithfield now has a losing record of 2-3. As for La Salle Academy, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Looking ahead, Smithfield will head out to face off against Moses Brown at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for La Salle Academy, they have already played their next match, a 5-3 victory against Portsmouth on the 11th.
