Basketball Recap: Argonia Red Raiders vs. Cedar Vale/Dexter Spartans
The Argonia Red Raiders fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Cedar Vale/Dexter Spartans on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 50-49 to the Spartans. Argonia has struggled against the Spartans recently, as their matchup on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Argonia still got an impressive performance from Dalton Morrison, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Filippo Leonardi, who scored ten points along with six steals.
Argonia has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Cedar Vale/Dexter, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-4.
Argonia will head out on the road to challenge the Wildcats at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Oxford presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Red Raiders in Kansas (the Wildcats are ranked 110th, while the Red Raiders are ranked 313th). As for Cedar Vale/Dexter, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Devils at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th.
