Rio Hondo Prep has gone 8-2 against Polytechnic recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Kares will welcome the Panthers at 3:15 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Polytechnic will be up against a hot Rio Hondo Prep squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Kares were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Sacred Heart of Jesus on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Polytechnic hadn't done well against Mayfield recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Panthers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Cubs a 7-0 shutout. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by exactly seven runs.

Dannika Rivera made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Polytechnic got a massive performance out of Brynn Connolly, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Ellery Engstrom, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Rio Hondo Prep's win bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Polytechnic, their victory bumped their record up to 14-3.
