Baseball Game Preview: South Anchorage Wolverines vs. Eagle River Wolves

The South Anchorage Wolverines are taking a road trip to take on the Eagle River Wolves at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South Anchorage has three straight victories, Eagle River has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

South Anchorage is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Bettye Davis East Anchorage, who was ranked 15th at the time (South Anchorage was ranked sixth). The Wolverines' pitchers stepped up to hand the Thunderbirds a 15-0 shutout on Wednesday. Considering the Wolverines have won five matchups by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Eagle River came up short against West Anchorage on Saturday, falling 18-3.

Eagle River's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for South Anchorage, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.

South Anchorage couldn't quite get it done against Eagle River when the teams last played back in May of 2025 as they fell 9-4. Can the Wolverines avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
