Softball Game Preview: Carrollwood Day Patriots vs. Grace Christian Patriots

Carrollwood Day are taking a road trip to challenge Grace Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grace Christian took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Carrollwood Day, who comes in off a win.

Carrollwood Day was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Cambridge Christian on Monday. The Patriots put the hurt on the Lancers with a sharp 13-3 win. Considering the Patriots have won four contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Maya Fuller was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Carrollwood Day got a massive performance out of Addison Prieto, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Olivia Fuller was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Grace Christian lost 11-1 to Southwest Florida Christian on Saturday.

Carrollwood Day is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Grace Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season.

Carrollwood Day skirted past Grace Christian 7-6 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for Carrollwood Day since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
