Soccer Game Preview: Wylie vs. Memorial

The Wylie Bulldogs will take on the Memorial Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Memorial will be up against a hot Wylie squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. While the 0-0 score might suggest a draw, it was Wylie who was credited with the victory on Friday. Wylie got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to Abilene's four. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 118th, while the Eagles are ranked 368th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

While the 0-0 score might suggest a draw, it was Legacy who was credited with the win on Friday. Legacy got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to Memorial's one.

Wylie pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three matches. As for Memorial, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-2.
