Basketball Game Preview: Water Canyon Wildcats vs. South Sevier Rams

The Water Canyon Wildcats will take on the South Sevier Rams in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Water Canyon is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Enterprise on Wednesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Water Canyon was dealt a 66-31 loss at the hands of Enterprise. The game marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Greg Hammon, who posted nine points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. Riley Jones was another key player, putting up six points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Sevier). They took down Draper APA 74-55 on Friday.

South Sevier's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for Water Canyon, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Water Canyon was taken down by South Sevier 75-45 in their previous meeting back in January. Can Water Canyon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
