Football Recap: Cedar Grove-Belgium Takes a Loss

Cedar Grove-Belgium played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 35-14 to the St. Joseph Lancers. The contest was a 7-7 toss-up at halftime, but the Rockets couldn't quite close it out.

St. Joseph's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zach Rizzo, who threw for 231 yards and two TDs while completing 73.3% of his passes, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. That's the most passing yards Rizzo has posted since back in August of 2024. St. Joseph's leading receiver Dominic Rinaldi was Rizzo's top target yet again, picking up 128 receiving yards and one score.

Cedar Grove-Belgium's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for St. Joseph, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cedar Grove-Belgium will take on Reedsville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup will give the Rockets their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for St. Joseph, they will challenge Milwaukee Academy of Science at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
