Softball Recap: Hebron Comes Up Short

After flying high against Braswell last Friday, Hebron came back down to earth. Hebron fell just short of the Flower Mound Jaguars by a score of 5-3 on Tuesday. The Hawks' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Kate Buesing spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on 13 hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Haylee Epps made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Rylee Holland also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Hebron's defeat dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Flower Mound, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5-1 record this season.

While Hebron had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
