Volleyball Recap: Marian Extends Winning Streak to Three

Marian entered their tilt with Lincoln East on Monday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Spartans. The Crusaders not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since September 30th (when they won 3-0).

Marian never let Lincoln East on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The final score came out to 25-20, 28-26, 25-16.

Marian found their leader in freshman Sami Curnyn, who had 11 digs and 11 assists.

Despite the defeat, Lincoln East saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Eva Gutz had 20 digs and two assists.

Marian's victory bumped their record up to 24-7. As for Lincoln East, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-21 record this season.

Marian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Elkhorn South on the 14th. As for Lincoln East, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 victory against Lincoln Northeast on the 20th.
