Softball Recap: Leroy's Loss Ends 12-Game Winning Streak at Home

LeRoy dropped their record down to 21-3 on Monday, which also ended the team's 12-game streak of wins at home. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Normal Community Ironmen. The contest marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

As for Normal Community, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games.

For Normal Community's part, Ava Prevo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks. Prevo has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hayley Michels was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Haley Baughman was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs.

LeRoy and Normal Community should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Panthers will challenge Tremont at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (94 vs. 346). Meanwhile, Normal Community (ranked 142nd) will meet Mahomet-Seymour (ranked 301st) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
