Basketball Game Preview: Lincolnton Wolves vs. West Lincoln Rebels

Lincolnton is 2-8 against West Lincoln since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The two teams will face off at 5:00 p.m. without much rest having both just played. Lincolnton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.3 points per game this season.

While Lincolnton didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They took down North Gaston 61-47 on Friday. Given the Wolves' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while the Wildcats are ranked 524th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lincolnton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sarah Rhyne out in front who posted 13 points and eight rebounds. Nyla Johnson was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Meanwhile, West Lincoln can finally bid farewell to their nine-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They strolled past Cherryville with points to spare, taking the game 41-24.

Lincolnton's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for West Lincoln, their victory bumped their record up to 2-9.

Lincolnton couldn't quite finish off West Lincoln in their previous meeting back in February and fell 55-53. Thankfully for Lincolnton, Carolina Robinson (who almost dropped a triple-double on 28 points, 12 boards, and nine blocks) won't be suiting up this time.
