Baseball Recap: Sabinal Comes Up Short

Sabinal extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping them down to 6-16. They came up short against the La Pryor Bulldogs, falling 14-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-9 back in March.

As for La Pryor, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-11. That's two games straight that they have won by exactly ten runs.

For La Pryor's part, Jayson Rosas looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Rosas has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Landon Jackson was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of La Pryor's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 10-11 when he doesn't). Achilles Pargas was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run and three RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sabinal will host Knippa at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Yellowjackets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Crushers have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. As for La Pryor, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Three Rivers at 6:00 p.m.
