Umatilla had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 6-5 to make it four. They fell just short of the Burns Hilanders by a score of 6-5. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 7-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.
Bryce Morris put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, David Garcia was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. Umatilla is 3-1 when Garcia posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Pablo Estrada, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.
As for Burns, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-3. Six seems to be a good number for them as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Like Umatilla, Burns also got a great game from a two-way player: Tyson Breshears. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. Breshears was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Wyatt Sewell, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Amir Schouviller-Kness was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
While Umatilla had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
