Preview: Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruins vs. Darlington Falcons
The Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruins will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Darlington Falcons at 6:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Orangeburg-Wilkinson's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Darlington has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
Orangeburg-Wilkinson stacked a 14th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 64-19 win over Brookland-Cayce. While fans of Orangeburg-Wilkinson might be used to big wins, the 45-point margin marked the team's biggest victory yet this season.
Jenia Haigler was her usual excellent self, scoring 13 points along with six steals and five assists. She has been hot recently, having posted five or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Joliyah Robinson, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, Darlington was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 51-45 to Lakewood.
Orangeburg-Wilkinson is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season. As for Darlington, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 16-9 record this season.
Orangeburg-Wilkinson was able to grind out a solid victory over Darlington when the teams last played back in February of 2018, winning 46-34. Will Orangeburg-Wilkinson repeat their success, or does Darlington have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
