League recap: Clewiston tops Okeechobee to extend winning streak

Clewiston added to the longest winning streak in 4A District 6 this week by beating Okeechobee, 34-16. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.

Lake Placid fell to Lemon Bay 46-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Clewiston's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Davis Witt threw for 198 and 3 touchdowns and Daion Banks had 52 yards receiving. On the ground Derry West contributed 87 yards. Tyrin Summers helped Clewiston's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 40 yards.

He went 8-9 with 0 interceptions.

Witt put up the best numbers in passing as Pete Walker's team topped the Brahmans. Witt's favorite target this week was Banks, who caught 2 passes for 52 yards.

The Tigers' Witt and Lenorris Gaines have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Witt has thrown for 1,343 yards this season, while Gaines has 24 catches for 644 yards. LaBelle's Danny Robinson leads the league in rushing yards with 1,354.

West of the Clewiston is only 25 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. West has rushed for 975 yards on 145 carries so far this year.
