Ascension Catholic waltzed into their game on Monday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They walked away with a 61-49 win over the West St. John Rams. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while the Rams are ranked 297th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, West St. John still got an impressive performance from Naheim Gastearl, who posted 17 points. ZaKyren Howard was another key player, putting up nine points.

Ascension Catholic's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 23-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points over those games. As for West St. John, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season.

Ascension Catholic has already played their next contest (against St. James), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for West St. John, they will take on Jefferson RISE Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
