Soccer Game Preview: Sahuaro vs. Casa Grande

The Sahuaro Cougars will venture away from home to square off against the Casa Grande Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sahuaro's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

On Monday, Sahuaro might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Thatcher an easy 7-1 win. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by exactly six goals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Casa Grande). They put the hurt on Poston Butte with a sharp 10-3 victory on Friday. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 4-0.

The win made it two in a row for Casa Grande and bumps their season record up to 3-2-1. As for Sahuaro, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Sahuaro beat Casa Grande by a goal when the teams last played back in February of 2020, winning 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sahuaro since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
