Softball Recap: Centreville Comes Up Short

Centreville extended their losing streak to eight on Friday, dropping them down to 1-12. They came up short against the Chantilly Chargers, falling 16-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chargers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-0 two weeks ago.

As for Chantilly, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-11. The contest marked their most dominant victory of the season.

For Chantilly's part, Mia Tizol was a standout: she got on base in five of her six plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. What's more, Tizol posted three hits, the most she's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Sunny Moring, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

Looking ahead, Centreville will head out to face off against James Madison at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warhawks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Chantilly, they will welcome South Lakes at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chargers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Seahawks have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season.
