Soccer Recap: Wren Comes Up Short

Wren lost against Woodmont back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Wildcats who were credited with the win. The Woodmont Wildcats got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to the Wren Hurricanes' two. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Wren came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Woodmont are ranked 93rd).

Wren's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-2-1. As for Woodmont, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-4.

Wren will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Fountain Inn at 7:00 p.m. on the 8th. As for Woodmont, they wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and have already played their next game, a 4-1 defeat against Greenville on the 1st.
