Baseball Recap: Gaston Comes Up Short

Gaston was the 7-5 winner over Portland Christian when they last played one another on Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Greyhounds fell just short of the Royals by a score of 6-5 on Friday.

Gaston saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zach Bozich, who went 2-for-4 with two runs. The Greyhounds are 3-1 when Bozich posts two or more runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Chase Oylear was another, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Gaston has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-1 Knappa and 5-1 Knappa (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 65.9% over those games). As for Portland Christian, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-5 record.
