Softball Recap: Orosi Sets Scoring Season-High Against Wonderful College Prep Academy

Orosi had lost eight games straight , but after bumping their record up to 5-12 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. Everything went their way against the Wonderful College Prep Academy Wolves as they made off with an 18-8 win. The Cardinals' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Miah Lopez made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Nicole Melchor was incredible, going 3-for-5 with four runs and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Jocelyn Mendoza was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Orosi kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

As for Wonderful College Prep Academy, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last nine times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

On Wonderful College Prep Academy's side, Elina Acol and Melanie Zamora stepped up to the plate in a big way. Acol went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Zamora went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Orosi beat Wonderful College Prep Academy by a score of 19-7 later that day.
