Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Blount

Blount had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Monroe County Tigers with a sharp 17-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Leopards, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.

B Arso made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Blount got a massive performance out of Christopher Wiggins Jr, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. Blount is undefeated when Wiggins Jr posts two or more runs, but 1-5 otherwise. John Cox was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

The victory got Blount back to even at 5-5. As for Monroe County, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blount will take on LeFlore at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Monroe County will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hillcrest at 4:00 p.m. on March 31st.
