Jonathan Martinez posted a new career-high in strikeouts on Wednesday. He struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.

Even though Martinez couldn't lead Mendez over Contreras, he won't have to wait long to try again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The Jaguars are 7-2 against the Cobras going back to March of 2022, a lead they'll look to extend.
