Basketball Recap: Fabiana Ames Castillo's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Dunellen over Sayreville

Dunellen fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Sayreville on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 50-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sayreville Bombers. The Destroyers' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Dunellen lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Fabiana Ames Castillo, who went 6 of 12 en route to 19 points and five steals. The dominant performance gave Ames Castillo a new career-high in points. Sophie Jimenez was another key player, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds.

Dunellen's loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Sayreville, their victory ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-7.
