Baseball Recap: Benton Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

Benton proved they can win big on Friday (they won by ten) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Solon Spartans, sneaking past 7-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Benton's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Solon, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-9.

Benton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 12-3 victory against Anamosa on the 24th. As for Solon, they will welcome Assumption at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
