Softball Recap: Simsboro's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Simsboro had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They put the hurt on the Weston Wolves with a sharp 15-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won ten contests by 12 runs or more so far this season.

Carlei Wheeler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Simsboro got a massive performance out of Kennady King, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits King has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jacoya Lewis, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Simsboro's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Weston, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Coming up, Simsboro will square off against Quitman at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Quitman's pitching crew has only allowed 1.6 runs per game this season, so Simsboro's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Weston, they will challenge Captain Shreve at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
