Basketball Recap: Cranston West Falls Short Against Ranked Ponaganset

On Tuesday, Cranston West faced Ponaganset in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Cranston West Falcons lost to the Ponaganset Chieftains at home by a 57-41 margin. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Madeleine Marques, who posted 11 points. Those 11 points gave Marques a new career-high. Nicole Silvestri was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Cranston West's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Ponaganset, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cranston West and Tolman/Shea will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. As for Ponaganset, they will be playing at home against Moses Brown at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Ponaganset has won 15 straight at home dating back to last season, while Moses Brown won seven straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
