Softball Preview: Fort Campbell Falcons vs. Northeast Eagles
Fort Campbell is 0-4 against Northeast since April of 2023 but things could change on Thursday. The Fort Campbell Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the Northeast Eagles at 6:00 p.m.
Monday just wasn't the day for Fort Campbell's offense. They came up short against Christian County on Monday, falling 15-0. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Northeast and West Creek faced off in a cross-town battle two weeks ago. Northeast put the hurt on West Creek with a sharp 22-6 win. The game was the first time the Eagles have beaten the Coyote on their field since April 16, 2018.
Sage Ferguson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Ferguson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Northeast got a massive performance out of Jordan Donohue, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Donohue a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Rayelle Curry, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs.
Northeast's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-0. As for Fort Campbell, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
