Baseball Recap: Burlington Comes Up Short

If Burlington was feeling good fresh off their 11-1 takedown of Calhan on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cougars took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lamar Thunder on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 22-10 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2017.

Burlington's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Lamar, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Burlington will face off against Stratton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. As for Lamar, they will take on Salida at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Thunder's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
